“Letters”
Dear Marlen,
As I reflect upon this course so far, I am finding it hard to believe in just how many things I’ve learned in such a short period of time. When I registered for this course, I seriously had to mentally prepare myself, because I knew that you weren’t fucking around when you said that this course will be the hardest I would ever take. I was excited to be able to learn how to write a research paper from you, primarily because you are in the process of finishing a dissertation, and that is basically the “mother of all” research papers. With knowing that, I wanted to be able to learn from your experiences, and be able to hopefully apply them to myself when I go to graduate school.
This course is one of the hardest I’ve taken, but also it seems to be one of the more rewarding experiences as well. I never would have thought that I would be doing a research topic that is so personal to me, as well as people around me. Just like you made me love English as a whole again when I took your 101 course, you are making me somewhat enjoy research writing. I say somewhat because, let’s face it, not everything about research writing is exciting. I look forward to learning more from you as the semester carries on. I think the course is going just fine the way it is.
Thank you,
Jeff Veach
