Peer Editing Project 2
I began editing this essay by following a basic rubric. I read over the essay briefly the first time, to see if I could catch any major errors first, without really digging into the paper. I did find many major mistakes within the paper during this first reading. I then read over the essay a second time, this time reading at a slower pace, and looking for sentence structure, flow, and general genre structure. I found more errors when it came to the flow of the essay. The third time of reading the essay, I read each sentence very slowly, and carefully. I was intentionally looking for anything wrong in each sentence. I would then read over the entire paragraph when I reached the end of each paragraph.
After this process, I then read the entire essay over again with any corrections I had in mind to make sure that the suggestions I made in the paper made sense. After making sure the suggestions made sense, I read the paper one last time to make sure I didn’t miss anything small, while looking for major mistakes. I then graded the paper using the rubric, and wrote down my comments at the end of the paper, as well as on the rubric.
I feel that this first draft was very rushed. The major things that needed to be done with this essay were not completed, such as citations, pre-post sentences, etc. The beginning of the paper was very interesting, but the other half just seemed to force “cited” works into the essay.
